There are two ways of treatments prevails in Ayurvedic System of Medicine.
(1) Curative (2) Eliminative
In Curative way of treatment, curing of disease is possible by taking Medicines and this way of treatment prevails in all other systems of Medicine.
Eliminative way of treatment prevails only in Ayurvedic System of Medicine-and is called Pancha karma. According to Ayurveda, accumulated impurities in body is the sole reason for disease. If we eliminate all that impurities, we will be able to root out the disease; the complete eradication of disease is possible and no recurrence thereafter.
There are five ways of Elimination (1) Nasyam (2) Vamanam ( 3) Virechanam (4) Snehavasthi (5) Kashayavasthi (Aasthapanam). Among the five eliminative treatments Kshayavasthi is the most important procedure by which almost all diseases can be cured.Surely it is most effective tool to Physicians to root out diseases. Kashayavasthi(Aasthapanam) is particularly effective in all Rheumatic diseases? Back pain, Knee pain, cervical pain, Shoulder pain, sciatic pain, Intervertibral dise prolapse and Disc Bulge,Joints pain, Rheumatoid arthritis and Hemi? Plegia (one side paralysis)
Aasthapana, the eliminative treatment has purification properties,Curative properties, and will empower the body and genito urinary system.
There are pre supportive treatments to Panchakarma (Eliminative way of treatment) such as Snehapana, (making use of Medicated ghee) Swedana (Therapeutic heating procedure).
